My Cookbooks

The Cheese Bible, Christian Teubner
The Definitive Sourcebook

A good find at Indigo. I saw it on the clearance tables for $15. I had originally been looking for Christian Teubner's Foods of The World because it's a good resource for menu planing whether you are an Executive Chef, Chef de Cuisine, a restaurant owner or just love to cook.

The Cheese Bible is also a very good resource for cheeses from all over the world with over 1,000 illustrations and descriptions. Aside from the great information on cheeses, I like the fact that included in the book, there are many recipes (half the book is dedicated to cold and hot recipes) that incorporate the cheeses illustrated in the book.

Essentials of Healthful Cooking, Williams-Sonoma
Recipes and Techniques for Wholesome Home Cooking

I found this cookbook at HomeSense for $19 ~ One of my favourite places to shop. I've picked up many items for the kitchen from this place.

Looking through the cookbook there are great recipes like the Oatmeal-Raisin Cookies. I don't like raisins and will be substituting craisins for the raisins. These cookies are low in fat and low in cholesterol. There's also a beautiful looking Beet and Stilton Salad with Orange Vinaigrette. This salad provides a good source of protein. The beets are high in folate ~ a B vitamin that is needed for building red blood cells.

The Italian Way, Cooking With the De Lucas
Essential Techniques and recipes for creating authentic Italian Cuisine

I received this cookbook as a gift from a good friend of mine who was working and living in Winnipeg. Needless to say, she is back in Ontario staying warm and glad that she does not have to brave the Alberta winters no longer.

This is a great cookbook with many traditional Italian recipes. The recipes are pretty simple and call for ingredients that are easily found in your local grocer.

I have made the tiramisu. My mistake on my first try was that I didn't let it set long enough. I took it out of the mold to serve, and it spread ~ just like a perfect risotto. I will attempt to make this again and remember to refrigerate overnight before serving.
